The Passeggio is a commercial mixed use development including 11,000 square feet of retail and 6 apartments on Milwaukee’s historic Brady Street.
Working closely with the City of Milwaukee and its Historic Commission, Passeggio was designed to blend with the surrounding buildings, adding urban fabric that was missing from the street.
Brady Street is a unique area of Milwaukee. It features buildings from every decade since the late 1800’s. This mix of styles and building types adds to the dynamic atmosphere of Milwaukee’s Lower East Side. Design criteria put forth by the Historic Commission built upon this mix, but imposed strict visual guide lines for the development of new projects. The goal of this project was to break down the mass of the building into distinct facades styles, elaborating on the many architectural styles of the area.
The Passeggio won the Mayor’s Award for design.
